Sunday Meditations

My husband and I recently received our latest issue of Columbia magazine in the mail. Actually, that's a little white lie, because technically it's not our subscription.  It was meant for our oldest boy, who has moved since he joined the Knights of Columbus and must have given them our address as a permanent point of contact.  (Son, you may want to send the folks at Columbia your current address; or if that's too much of a hassle since you're going to be moving again in about a year anyway, never fear--your dad and I will enjoy reading the K of C magazine for you in the meantime.)

When it came, I was struck by the wonderful cover artwork depicting our newly-elected Pope Francis.
Inside, there was an article titled "The Quotable Pope Francis," and I was particularly moved by this quote taken from a March 24 homily given by the Holy Father:

"Ours is not a joy born of having many possessions, but from having encountered a Person, Jesus, in our midst; it is born from knowing that with him we are never alone, even at difficult moments, even when our life's journey comes up against problems and obstacles that seem insurmountable, and there are so many of them!  And in this moment the enemy, the devil, comes, often disguised as an angel, and slyly speaks his word to us. Do not listen to him!  Let us follow Jesus!"

What more can you say, right?

Come to think of it, the young gal behind a blog called Country Girl's Daybook has some more to say, and her words will blow you away.  Check out her recent post titled "Lovestruck."   It's absolutely beautiful and makes for a perfect Sunday meditation.

    1. I thought so, too. There were a lot of other good ones I could have added, but I was trying to keep this short and sweet.

      Have a great week!
